In the clip ‘Diary of a cool girl’ it starts off with the boy the father and the girl meeting at the door, as soon as it starts it goes into an awkward conversation. This helps us understand that because of the girl’s job and the fact that the boy is disabled that it different and that the awkwardness is among the three in the atmosphere.
In the next part of the clip the father pulls out an envelope at this point of time ambient and dietetic sounds are used to emphasise that there is money in it to prove to us that she is a call girl, this make it more awkward as the conversation has decreased to the minimal too.
Moving on, when the father leaves the room the girl goes to lock the door, ambient sounds are used again further to shot that the boy feels awkward and anxious as his father cannot get in f he is in trouble, there is a bit of a conversation going on but it is not like a full sentence conversation more stuttering than anything. This make the viewer feel sorry for the boy as this would have been easier if he was not disabled.
When the father get in the van sound effect are used, lowering the window then up, moving the seat back and forth, pressing the horn, this suggest to us that the father feels restless and anxious for the boy, this shows how protective and caring he is towards her.
In the final part of the clip an sound bridge is used from the van to the boy, this is also non- digetic. This sound bridge is a harmonica this is used to show sympathy and sadness toward the boys’ disability this is proven to us when the boy and the girl are sitting close and the boy gets anxious when the girl touches him. There after the ambient sound is faded out toward the end of the scene.
